احذر من طبيبك الأمريكي!
في نوفمبر وديسمبر 2024، بدأت ساقاي السفليتان في الانتفاخ. لم أكن أعرف ما الذي يحدث لي. لم أكن أملك أي مشكلة صحية خطيرة في حياتي كلها. لا أستهلك الكحول، لا أدخن، وأمارس الكثير من الرياضة. قررت الذهاب لرؤية طبيبي الشخصي في مستشفى سان لياندرو.
عندما رآني، أصبح قلقًا معتقدًا أنه قد يكون هناك جلطة. أمر على الفور ببعض الفحوصات. جاءت الفحوصات سلبية. قال “لا تقلق، كل شيء على ما يرام”. سألته عن انتفاخ ساقي؛ مرة أخرى أجابني بطريقة إيجابية. قال: “سيختفي تدريجيًا”. قلت “رائع، شكرًا لك دكتور” وذهبت سعيدًا لمواصلة روتيني اليومي.

قال لي، كليتك تعمل بنسبة 75٪. أعطاني الكثير من الأدوية. لم أضع في نظامي مثل هذا الكم من الأدوية من قبل. أيضًا، قال لي أن أجري خزعة. أجبته، “سأعود إلى الولايات المتحدة، سأرى طبيبي، وسيغطي تأميني كل شيء”.
بعد عودتي إلى الولايات المتحدة، ذهبت مباشرة لرؤية طبيبي. بعد إخباره بما حدث. لم يصدق حقًا أن طبيبًا من بلد العالم الثالث يمكن أن يقدم تشخيصًا أفضل منه. قرأت لغة جسده. لم يرغب في إرسالي مباشرة لرؤية أخصائي الكلى. أمر ببعض فحوصات الدم. بعد أسبوعين، عدت لرؤيته. وفقًا له، جاءت النتائج سلبية. قال لي، “لا تملك أي مشاكل في الكلى”. كنت سعيدًا جدًا لسماع ذلك. سألته، “دكتور، هل يجب أن أتوقف عن تناول الدواء الذي أعطيته لي في الإكوادور”؟ أجاب، “بالطبع، لا تملك ما تقلق بشأنه”.
من يناير إلى يوليو، كنت أجري فحوصات دم دوريًا؛ ووفقًا لطبيبي كل شيء كان على ما يرام. لكن ساقي السفلية بقيت منتفخة قليلاً. سألته لماذا. مرة أخرى، أجابني، إنه لا شيء، بالإضافة إلى أن عمرك يمكن أن يكون السبب. جئت إلى الإكوادور في أغسطس الماضي، وبعد أسبوعين، انتفخت جسدي بالكامل. فقدت طاقتي تمامًا. كنت في حالة سيئة جدًا. مرة أخرى، اضطررت لزيارة الطبيب الذي رآني في يناير. عندما رآني، أصبح قلقًا جدًا من حالتي. قال لي، العلاج الذي أعطيتك إياه، كان عليك اتباعه لمدة عامين. مرة أخرى، أرسلني لإجراء الكثير من الفحوصات. هذه المرة، قال لي، “كليتك تعمل بنسبة 39٪”. أعطاني المزيد من الأدوية، وقال لي، عُد بعد أسبوعين، ربما ستحتاج إلى دخول المستشفى.

BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR US DOCTOR
In November and December of 2024 my lower legs started to get swollen. I didn’t kn. ow what was happening to me. I have never had a serious health issue in my whole life. I don’t consume alcohol, don’t smoke, and practice a lot of sports.
I decided to go to see my personal doctor at San Leandro hospital. When he saw me, he got worried thinking that it might be clouts. He immediately ordered some tests.
The tests came negative. He said “don’t worry, everything is okay”. I asked him about the swollenness of my legs; again he replied to me in a positive way. He said: “it’s going to disappear little by little” I said “great, thanks doctor” and went away so happy to continue with my daily routine.
Then, in January of 2025, my mother suffered a stroke and I had to travel to Ecuador as an emergency.
Luckily, my mother recovered so fast in a week or so. On the contrary, the swelling of my legs became really alarming.
A saw a doctor in my hometown. After seeing me, this doctor became so worried and he thought I must have a kidney problem.
He recommended me to see a doctor in a great hospital in Cuenca.
This doctor after the right tests diagnosed me with kidney problems. He told me, your kidneys are working about 75%.
He gave me a lot of medications. I have never put into my system such amount of medicines before. Also, he told me to perform a biopsy. I replied him, “I am going back to the US, I will see my doctor, and my insurance will pay for everything”.
After getting back to the US, I went straight to see my doctor. After telling him what happened. He really didn’t believe that a doctor from a Third World Country could give a better diagnose than him. I could read his body language.
He didn’t want to send me straight to see a kidney specialist. He ordered some blood tests. After couple weeks, I went back to see him. According to him, the results came negative. He told me, “you don’t have any kidney problems”. I was so excited to hear about it. I asked him, “doctor, should I discontinue the medication that I was given in Ecuador”? He replied, “absolutely, you have nothing to worry about”.
From january to July, I was having blood tests periodically; and according to my doctor everything was right.
But my lower leg kept a small swelling. I asked him why. Again, he replied me, it’s nothing, plus your age can be the cause.
I came to Ecuador last August, and after two weeks, my whole body got swollen. I lost my energy completely. I was in a very bad condition. Again, I had to visit the doctor who saw me back in January.
When he saw me, he became so alarmed by my condition. He told me, the treatment I gave you, you should have followed for two years.
Again, he sent to make a lot of tests. This time, he told me, “your kidneys are working 39%”. He gave me more medications, and told me, come back in two weeks, probably, you are going to need hospitalization.
I came back after the two weeks, and my condition had improved greatly. My kidneys were working at 66%.
Then, he ordered more medication for me, and told me, I will see you in a month. And here I am waiting for him after a month had passed. I am feeling great.
Personally, I wil never trust a US doctor again. Ecuador has great professionals. They really take care of their patients.
